Renting a Car in Dubai: Documents & Handover
Rental eligibility depends on your residency status, licence and the vehicle offered. Confirm the requirements for your circumstances before paying or arranging a handover.
Check BMW test datesThe homepage planner is a BMW test flow only. Other vehicles require rate and availability confirmation.
Confirm your driving eligibility
Residents and visitors can have different document requirements. Ask YAGA what identification, driving licence and any international driving permit are required for your licence country and residency status. Check official UAE guidance; do not assume every overseas licence is accepted.
Read the agreement before collection
Verify the driver’s minimum age, additional-driver rules, insurance excess, permitted use and mileage allowance. Check whether payment and identification must be in the main driver’s name. This guide does not prescribe one minimum age for all vehicles.
Record the handover condition
Check bodywork, wheels, glass, fuel level and odometer together with the provider. Record existing damage and keep a copy of the handover record. Ask for the procedure to follow if an accident, warning light or breakdown occurs.
Prepare for the return
Agree the return address and time, fuel requirement and inspection process. Ask how any later tolls or fines are documented and settled. Keep your return confirmation.
Before you plan
Questions, answered.
Do all visitors need the same documents?
No. Requirements depend on licence country, residency status and the provider’s eligibility rules. Confirm your own circumstances before booking.
